Through what communication channels do IT professionals and hobbyists get to know IT innovations and how-to? Word-of-Mouth? Mass media? A survey with 109 persons located in 12 groups from Singapore & China's 8 organizationa revealed that only machines-assisted interpersonal communication channels are the key channels for their awareness knowledge of IT innovations, and that only Internet is their significant channel for how-to knowledge of IT innovations.
Why do some people act as leaders in their groups? Leadership is not determined only by traits but also influenced by the possession of specific information sources and the extensiveness of their social networks.
